Welcome to Story Threads. Story Threads is an independent practice offering counselling, supervision and training in the realms of narrative therapy and mental health. Through explorations of narrative therapy, we journey together towards cultivating more hopeful and fulfilling lives. We do this while holding onto a lens that is trauma informed, queer affirmative, social justice based and neurodiversity affirming. I am Maya Sen a narrative therapist and mental health social worker. Over the last six years I have been working with young people and adults on the following themes

If I describe my experience with Maya Mam in one word it would be ‘ transforming’. From having no idea what therapy is and how it works to how it elevated my mindset and made me more resilient. I undertook therapy sessions from Maya Sen during a period of time when I was extremely overwhelmed and had hit an all-time low point in life. While my previous experiences undergoing therapy did not meet my expectations, it was a very different experience with Maya. She delved into some aspects of my life by creating a safe space to explore and share my issues. It was also interesting to see her take a different form of therapy and her approach proved extremely beneficial. I left feeling hopeful about my situation and I look forward to continuing the journey of healing with her support.
Ms Sen’s narrative therapy-based focused guidance helped me navigate through a lot of professional and personal challenges better. She helps you develop a personal plan for managing stress and anxiety, keeping in mind your individual limitations and needs which makes the process really simple yet effective. I continue to benefit greatly from our sessions as she proactively involves the client in finding the possible solutions to the challenges life throws at us.
Maya has been an invaluable guide on my journey towards self-understanding and healing. With her support, I gained invaluable insights, like quantifying my actions to alleviate guilt and shame. By applying(still learning)the 'spoons theory,' she taught me to embrace self-compassion in managing daily energy. I look forward to my sessions with her which gives me new perspectives to look at things and a little bit more courage and acceptance to navigate life.

It was very refreshing to talk to her . Therapy sessions really helped me really navigate through the toughest moments in my life. It made me look at the problem in a way I had never imagined before.
Maya is an excellent psychotherapist. She has helped me become aware of my emotions and validate them, by developing simple and effective strategies for coping. She has guided me to develop an inner dialogue with my emotions, and that has helped me be more understanding and more accepting of my own humanness. She helps me walk out of the room feeling empowered even though i felt utterly helpless going in. I would highly recommend her work!
I had been seeking to get out of certain confusion using various means including mindless scrolling through my phone, smoking, therapy, self help books and so on. During my search I came across Ms Maya Sen. Her approach was ethical and therapy felt less like a therapy and more like a conversation that revealed certain inconsistencies in my thoughts. I preferred this over other styles of therapies(been to many). I hope those who read this is able to sort things out, and go on from there.
