I have been working in the realm of mental health for the last 7 years. I work primarily as a narrative therapist and mental health social worker. I work with adults and adolescents.
My journey into mental health began in the child protection sector, where I primarily focused on providing therapeutic interventions for young people in Child Care institutions dealing with violence and abuse. As time progressed, my work expanded to encompass a wider range of populations and address various issues in mental health.
In my experience, I've seen people dealing with tough situations in various contexts. Despite the complexity of their problems, interventions often emphasized what they were doing wrong. This drove me to explore new ways of engaging in this field.
I developed a keen interest in exploring the connections between mental health and larger social systems. It was also crucial for me to find just and creative ways of operating in this field and challenge practices that label people as "wrong" when they're simply reacting to unfair situations.
This led me to learning and specializing in narrative practices. Narrative therapy allows me to connect people to their preferred visions for life in a way that is respectful, collaborative, non-blaming and dignifying.
Outside of work I enjoy listening to music, watching various programs, spending time with loved ones and being bossed around by my dogs.
